Residents of Bronkhorspruit, Zithobeni, Ekangala and parts of the Thembile Hani Municipality have no water now.
The City of Tshwane said high lift pumps at the Bronkhorspruit Water Treatment Plant, were faulty.
Components to begin repair work did not arrive on Wednesday, delaying completion of repairs.
The City said in an update “the repairs involve specialised equipment and remain dependent on the delivery of these critical components.”
But soon water production became limited by ongoing repairs.
The City advised residents to drink from water tankers, while its technicians source more supply alternatives.
