The death count in the disaster along the Nepal–Tibet Himalayan corridor, has risen to 400.
More than 900 people are still missing.
Authorities are investigating a massive collapse of ice, rock, and mud, that fell into the river system, triggering the incident.
Tarique Rahman, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, said “we express our deepest condolences for the deceased and hope for early recovery of the and treatment of those missing.”
Now a second hydrological disaster looms, after China’s Ministry of Water Resources warned against a barrier lake developing near the Tibet side of the border.
In a statement, the Ministry suggests a lake is already overflowing, while more than ~3 million m³ of water could be incoming, due to ongoing rains.
As a result, China activated a Level-IV flood-defence emergency response for Tibet.
Moreover, there was an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 in Nyima County, Nagqu, Tibet, on Thursday.
The earthquake was located hundreds of kilometres north of the Nepal–Tibet area, of the incident.
