Only poles were damaged inside the substation in Ducats, in the Eastern Cape, when a fire broke out there, on Friday.
The Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) confirmed that the main substation, was unscathed.
Moreover, the fire was brought under control.
Luzuko Buku, Spokesperson of the Municipality, said in a statement on Friday, “the fire started in the vicinity of the Eskom substation, prompting an immediate emergency response to contain the blaze and safeguard critical electricity infrastructure.”
He also assured residents that the incident will not result in any power outage.
