A power outage in the City of Ekurhuleni, is expected to affect pumping at Rand Water’s Mapleton Station.
As a result, Rand Water said on Tuesday, the station is unable to pump water.
Makenosi Maroo, Spokesperson of Rand Water, said in a statement, that the failure to repair a breaker and resolve the outage with the urgency, would stifle water supply to several areas.
“Despite repeated enquiries throughout the night, Rand Water has received no firm commitment from the City of Ekurhuleni on when electricity will be restored” said Maroo in a statement.
Water shortages are expected to affect the Cities of Ekurhuleni, Tshwane, Lesedi, Govan Mbeki, Victor Khanye and Thembisile Hani Local Municipalities.
Questions were sent to the City of Ekurhuleni’s Phakamile Mbengashe, to provide certainty around the exact time of power restoration.
