The Overstrand Municipality said as at 2pm on Monday afternoon, the fire at Hemel and Aarde was still actively burning, high up on the mountain.
The Municipality also said access to the fire was difficult.
Ground teams and firefighters were deployed to the fire line.
Aerial resources are Leading Edge Aviation, Working on Fire, Overstrand crew members (including Traffic and Law Enforcement), goFPA and VWS.
Working on Fire said an unexpected change in the direction of the wind, caused smoke to blow in the direction of Villiersdorp, in the Overberg District.

The Cape Winelands District Municipality’s Fire Services together with contracted ground teams from NCC fighting a wildland fire on the mountains above Op-die-Berg, outside Ceres.
There is no threat to property at this stage.
