The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation, in partnership with the Northwest University’s School of Social Sciences and the National Heritage Council, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to equip 20 students with practical archival skills.
Anele Gcwabe, Spokesperson of the Foundation, said in a statement, the program is part of a Work Integrated Learning (WIL), aimed at cultivating a new generation of archivists and heritage practitioners. “Through this hands-on experience, students will be trained in the processes of cataloguing, preserving, and digitising archival materials. The focus is not only on safeguarding the past, but also on making historical records accessible to a wider public, including researchers, students, and communities across the country.”
