Amatola Water Board has obtained a court order against SAMWU and its striking employees.

The Board said on Friday, it is deeply perpetuated by allegations of intimidation and obstruction of employees who do not wish to join protest action.

“Amatola Water provides an essential service. Preventing staff from working, not only violates the law,  but it also violates a basic human right, to clean water…”

Dr Sharpley, Chairperson of the Board, also said the Board is concerned about the deteriorating relationship between organised labour and management, and how this tension is being allowed to undermine the functioning of the institution.
