Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) has begun a disciplinary process against Dr. Ntobeko Stemele, General Manager of Public Safety and Emergency Services Directorate.
The City said serious allegations of misconduct were laid by Advocate Boniswa Mzimba, the Head of Department (HoD), against Stemele.
The allegations are of multiple counts of misconduct and also making defamatory accusations and statements against a senior official.
In a statement, Bongani Fuzile, the Spokesperson of the City, said “the Municipality views the allegations in a very serious light, in terms of the Municipal Disciplinary Code. The formal investigation will be guided by the principles of due process and procedural fairness.”
He also said this matter now includes a police investigation and is subject to internal disciplinary processes.
