The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate said it will be undertaking planned maintenance on the City’s critical water supply infrastructure, as from today, Tuesday, the 17th December at 9am.

Maintenance work, will be pipe and valve installations, repairs and replacements.

As a result, water supply interruptions are expected in Thornton, Blackheath Industrial, Gaylee, Austinville and Happy Valley.

The City said it would start with zero-pressure testing and step-testing on Tuesday, 17 December 2024, from 10:00 until 16:00.

The water supply to the Thornton area will be shut off from 09:00 until 18:00 on Wednesday, 18 December 2024.
This will allow the maintenance team to safely replace the 500mm diameter bulk water meter in Viking Way, Epping.

Water will be shutdown on Wednesday, from 9am – 6pm in Blackheath Industrial, Gaylee, Austinville and Happy Valley.

Affected consumers are requested to store enough water in clean, sealed containers in advance.

A water tanker will be made available if required.
