FC Conradie, CEO and co-owner of Gondwana Private Game Reserve, was trampled by an elephant on Tuesday morning around 8am.
The reserve said Emergency medical services responded immediately, but Conradie was sadly declared dead at the scene.
Police have opened an inquest docket and are investigating further.
The reserve has expressed its condolences to the family and requested privacy during this time.
A close family friend and spokesperson for the reserve, said “this is an unimaginable loss. FC was more than a leader—he was a mentor, a visionary, and a truly remarkable human being. We kindly ask for privacy and space for the family during this incredibly difficult time. Everyone who knew FC is grieving deeply.”
Gondwana is a 1200-hectare Protected and Endangered Species Area, in the Southern Cape.
