The City of Tshwane is planning to challenge a ruling by the Labour Court outcome, which ordered 5 employees to return to work today, Monday, the 20th January 2025.

The 5 were charged with allegations of misconduct in the Rooiwal tender award.

The City said in a statement on Sunday, “after giving time and attention to the arbitration award and its implications, the City is of the view that there were defects in the proceedings and the ruling.”

As a result, the City lodged a notice of application against the South African Government Bargaining Council’s arbitration award (SALGBC).

In addition, the City filed a review with the Labour Court last year, to review a sanction made by the Chairperson of the disciplinary case.
The City said it has petitioned the court to expedite the matter.
