The eThekwini Municipality has committed to build the M4 and M19 corridors, to be climate-resilient.
The bridges were damaged by floods, back in April 2022.
Vincent Ngubane, Director of Disaster Management, said the Municipality has made significant strides in restoring and upgrading critical infrastructure, severely damaged during the floods.
“We are not just reacting to disasters, we are anticipating them and designing our City to withstand them.”
Community initiatives include the Prospection Road and uMlazi Canals, now ready to protect homes and industries.
“Bridges like Shallcross and Coedmore to name a few, are rising again; stronger, smarter, and built to last.”
