Residents are urged to prepare for cold and windy conditions, over the central and eastern regions of South Africa. 

Meteorologists spotted a Cut-Off Low (COL), over Namibia, shaped like a giant comma cloud, stretching from central Namibia across Botswana into South Africa. 

Lehlohonolo Thobela, of the South African Weather Service (SAWS) said as a result, cloudy and cold conditions are expected to dominate over the central and eastern parts of South Africa, over the weekend. 

The SAWS also warned against damaging winds over the northern and western parts of the Namakwa District (Northen Cape) as well as the northern parts of West Coast District (Western Cape), from Friday into Sunday afternoon. 

Isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers are forecast over parts of the Northern Cape, the Free State and North West on Saturday, and are expected to spread to the Eastern Cape, Gauteng and Limpopo on Sunday. 

Some light rain is also possible over Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal. 

Moreover, Thobela said strong wind gusts are possible over the northern parts of the Western Cape, northern and western parts of the Northern Cape, as well as the western parts of the North West.
