Hermanus
Residents of Eluxolweni and Broadway Street in Pearly Beach were evacuated to the community hall, as fire continues to threaten parts of Mount Pleasant, in Hermanus.
The fire is along the R43, opposite the sports fields.
Dean O’Neill, Municipal Manager of the Overstrand Municipality, urged residents in Panorama, Groeneweide, and Standskloof to remain on high alert, as evacuation may be necessary, if conditions worsen.
The Defense Force’s Oryx and Black Hawk helicopters expected to be diverted from Stanford to Eluxolweni, to assist with the fire there.
Kouga
Similarly residents of Linderhof, were ordered to evacuate immediately, due to a fierce fire on Oyster Bay Road.
All motorists are urged to stay away and make use of alternative routes.
The Municipality also said the fire at Fountains Mall was completely extinguished.
