Around 500 people were evacuated during the Cyclone Garance and Honde in Madagascar, this week.
Tropical storm Garance started on Tuesday, the 25th February 2025, and moved from the Centre of the Southern Indian Ocean, to the North West of Mauritius on Thursday.
Another storm Honde formed over the Mozambique channel on Monday.
As a result, heavy rainfall is expected Réunion in Mauritius and Southern and central Madagascar.
A depressive system is forecast for the south of Madagascar.
Meteorologists say areas in the South, already affected by flooding, are at risk of strong winds, thunderstorms and a dangerous wave. Authorities are calling for vigilance and caution.
Honde is expected to have a wind speed of 120 km/h at sea, and gusts of up to165 km/h.
