Content from DBSA: Mohan Vivekanandan, the Group Executive of Origination & Coverage at the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), gave a keynote address at the Devac Hydrogen conference in Johannesburg.
This conference serves as a platform for addressing hydrogen project developments and investment opportunities, bringing together experts from government institutions, private sector companies, and international investors to find solutions that can unlock Africa’s potential in Green Hydrogen.
As a development finance institution, the DBSA is dedicated to financing project development activities for large green hydrogen projects. The DBSA actively supports two recent projects, namely the SA-H2 Fund and the SDG Namibia One Fund. The SA-H2 Fund is an innovative blended finance fund designed to accelerate the development of a green hydrogen sector and circular economy in South Africa. On the other hand, the SDG Namibia One fund aims to secure US$1 billion in funding to develop green hydrogen projects in Namibia.
These funds significantly contribute to national efforts in leveraging the existing renewable energy infrastructure, which is expected to have a profound impact on the development of the renewable energy industry.
