An earthquake measured at a magnitude of 7.4, struck the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Japan at 7:52 UTC. 

The epicenter was 94 km from the city of Miyako. 

The tremors were felt in parts of Japan, including Iwate, Aomori, and Hokkaido.

The quake triggered a tsunami warning for Tohoku and Hokkaido Pacific coastal areas.

Waves of up to 3 meters (10 feet) are expected at Tohoku and Hokkaido Pacific coastal areas.

The Philippine Embassy in Japan advised some 8,301 Filipinos residents along coastal areas, to evacuate.
