The South African Local Government Association (SALGA) will launch the Local Climate Action Planning (CAP) support project, on Tuesday, in Pretoria.
The initiative is in partnership with the African Climate Foundation (ACF).
About 35 District Municipalities are to receive both technical and institutional assistance, from the project, including the review, strengthening and implementation of climate action plans, in line with the Climate Change Act.
Motalatale Madiba, Senior Manager of Communications of SALGA, said in a media advisor about the event, “it aims to enhance readiness from planning to implementation, and to embed climate action within integrated development plans, municipal budgets and performance systems.”
