The UN June Climate Meetings (SB 64) in Bonn, Germany, draw to a close on Thursday afternoon.
The meetings are a yardstick to measure progress, and mid-year preparations proceeding the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP 31) in Antalya, Türkiye.
World leaders have come from across the globe to discuss climate action, resilience, finance and a just transition.
Simon Stiell, UN Climate Change Executive Secretary, said at his opening address “tackling the climate crisis is the hardest – but most important – thing humanity has ever tried to do together.”
Delegates discussed the speed and scope of multilateral climate action at length, as well as structural barriers to reaching targets ahead of COP31.
