Electrical maintenance work is expected to get underway at Palmiet and Zuikerbosch sites, from the 29 May to 17 July 2026.

Eskom confirmed over the weekend, it would also install and upgrade motors at Zuikerbosch Raw Water Engine Room 4.

The power utility said it would also replace critical valves and thrust bearings at Palmiet, Vereeniging and Foresthill systems, during this time.

Rand Water will also need to switch off some of its pumps, during maintenance, which will result in water supply interruptions.

Affected residential and business zones will be the Cities of Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni, as well as the local municipalities of Mogale City, Rand West, Merafong, Rustenburg, Madibeng, Lesedi, Victor Khanye, Govan Mbeki, Thembisile Hani, Midvaal, Emfuleni, Metsimaholo, Ngwathe and Royal Bafokeng Administration.

Affected industries, include mines and direct customers, such as Airports Company South Africa (ACSA).
