Residents in the City of Tshwane can now feed their excess power back to the City’s grid.
The call is to residents who have installed embedded generation systems like solar photovoltaic, waste to energy, energy storage, petroleum generators and bidirectional electricity meters.
Those who can participate in the Programme, must first register, and get approval from the City.
Themba Fosi, Mayoral Committee Member for Utilities and Regional Operations and Coordination, said the City is developing a crediting process for customers who want to sell energy back to the City.
The process includes the development of electricity tariffs for both consumption and reverse feed.
He said the Programme is expected to take off in July 2024.
