The Fire Prohibition Period was temporarily lifted this week until Thursday, the 1st of October 2026, in the Letaba region.
Rouan Snyman, General Manager of Letaba Fire Protection Association, said this is subject to a weekly review and may be amended depending on prevailing fire danger, weather conditions and fire management requirements.
“No Friday or weekend burning will be permitted. Furthermore, no pine slash burning and no pine harvest burning” he said in a statement on Monday.
