Dean O’Neill, Overstrand Municipal Manager, said in a statement at 1pm on Thursday, there are two fires his fire and rescue teams are attending.
One is near Hawston/Vermont area and the other, in Stanford, in the Western Cape.
The Fire near Hawston, is actually in the Hoek-van-die Berg Nature Reserve.
O’Neill said this fire is burning out of control inside the reserve, but no infrastructure is under threat.
“This will be a multi-day fire and the landowners and fire services will remain on the scene.”
The Municipality said the objective of this, is to keep the fire contained within the Nature Reserve.
The Stanford fire is contained and hotspots weren extinguished.
