Through the leadership of Pastor Ray McCauley, 500 churches were planted.
Over 10,000 Bible School students graduated from Rhema Bible College.
Over 1,5 million people responded to the gospel, in over 70 countries.
He led a 45,000 membership church, with 3 services, every Sunday.
It is no wonder Pastor Ray is lauded as a giant of our time.
McCauley launched Rhema Bible Church in 1979, and Bible School in 1986, the first of its kind in Africa.
Most Christian leaders who graduated from the school, spoke affectionately of Pastor Ray and his leadership, including Pastors outside of the church, At Boshoff, Bishop Musa Sono, Bert Pretorius and Professor Maurice Radebe.
A year later, Hands of Compassion, Rhema’s social wing was initiated in 1987.
McCauley was a compassionate influential leader, who refused to let apartheid divide the church and advocated for black and white South Africans to worship together.
Joshua McCauley, Senior Pastor of Rhema Bible Church and Redemption Family, said at Pastor Rey’s comfort sevice, a man approached Pastor Ray randomly, asking for money to travel back to rural KZN.
Pastor Ray dug into his pocket, pulled out a few hundred Rands and gave the man.
“I was there when the same man came to thank my father, said he was watching television with his family, when he recognized Pastor Ray preaching. The man and his entire family gave their lives to the Lord and he was back in Johannesburg to work.”
McCauley is one of three people in South Africa, to have survived a severe stroke at the age of 60.
At 75, he stepped back from active church duties, but remained committed to serve the body of Christ.
The leadership of the church appointed Pastors Josh and Tara McCauley as Senior Pastors in May 2022.
His honoring service will be held at 7pm, on Thursday, the 17th, at Rhema Bible Church and his funeral, on Saturday, the 19th at 8am.
