Police arrested five of twenty suspects, who stormed the Naboomspruit Truck Stop on the R101, during the early hours of Sunday, 16 February 2026.
They stole two trailers loaded with copper valued at an estimated R4 million, as well as R22,000 in cash.
The sum value of stolen goods, including the trailers, exceeds R4.7 million.
Police said a coordinated multi-provincial law enforcement operation led to the arrest of five suspects and the recovery of two stolen trailers, as well as a portion of stolen copper.
They said they acted on intelligence received by the members of SAPS Flying Squad, local SAPS units, Community Policing Forum (CPF) volunteers from Makhado, and Tracker Connect mobilised to intercept vehicles linked to the crime.
They then intercepted a white Nissan NP200, near Musina, which led them to one of the suspects.
Then three other arrests followed- a Hyundai Stario minibus connected to the robbery, was located at a fuel station in Makhado.
Police had to go all the way to near Soshanguve, to find a truck horse used to transport the stolen trailers.
The team also found the truck horse driver near Muldersdrift on the N14.
Stolen trailers were found in Hammanskraal, along with a portion of the stolen copper cargo.
Police said the search for the missing fifteen continues, along with the remaining stolen copper.
