Torrential rains have claimed a woman’s life in Pinetown, after her car was swept off a bridge.
Floods left a trail of damage across the City, leaving trees uprooted, infrastructure and a widespread power outage.
The City’s technical teams are reportedly working tirelessly to restore power to affected areas.
The Provincial Disaster Management Centre is actively coordinating with all municipalities to assess the full extent of the damage caused since Thursday, 13th March 2025.
The South African Weather Service issued a Level 6 weather warning, against heavy rains in the City and parts of the Ugu, iLembe, and uMgungundlovu Districts for Thursday.
However, Level 4 warning is still relevant on Friday.
Thulasizwe Buthelezi, MEC for Cooperative Governance in KZN, has urged residents and motorists to remain alert “we urge all residents to heed the weather warnings and exercise extreme caution. These conditions pose a significant risk to human life and livestock.”
