Several organisations suspect there is a gas leak, close to the City Hall and the PRASA train station, in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha).
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality said it is working in partnership with several organisations, to address the matter, including its own Fire, Disaster Management Services, Infrastructure and Engineering, Metro Police, Traffic Services and the railway organisation (PRASA).
Firefighters conducted gas detection tests at the affected locations, but found no abnormal gas readings.
But during the assessment, the team found there are several sewer spills in the area.
Roads and Stormwater Services were notified through the Fire Control Centre to investigate and address the suspected underground pipe-related issue in the vicinity of the PRASA train station.
