Johannesburg Water said it has begun to intensify its mass disconnection Programme, targeting informal settlements.
First up are disconnections in Deep South, and all informal settlements across the City.
Nombuso Shabalala, Spokesperson of Johannesburg Water, said huge loses were recorded in those areas.
“The Entity has seen a considerable shift in reservoir and tower capacity since the illegal disconnection programme started. A case in point is the Deep South Region (Ennerdale, Lenasia, Orange Farm and Lawley areas) where reservoir levels have doubled, optimising equitable water distribution” said Shabalala.
She also said water tankers would be provided daily to approximately 36 000 informal settlements households in that region, and add toilets for sanitation.
