The Buffalo City Municipality in the Eastern Cape, said water levels at two of its treatment works is critically low.

This is affecting residents of the Midland region in Mdantsane, Reeston, Nxarhuni and sorrounding areas, as well as those in the Inland region (Bhisho, eQonce, Kaysersbeach and sorrounding areas).

As a result, the Municipality said it would be supplying water through tankers.

In addition, residents are advised to use water sparingly.

The two treatment plants of concern are the Nahoon and Laing, which are reportedly pumping water, despite low levels.The municipality also said it would continue to monitor the situation closely and engage Amatola Water Board.
