The Tshwane Municipality has proposed an operational budget of about R52,3 billion for the current financial year 2025/2026.

The City also tabled R2,4 billion for capital expenditure.

This is the first time the City has tabled a draft budget, since the approval of a budget, back in May 2021.

Dr Nasipha Moya, the Executive Mayor of the City said the budget has six strategic priorities, including financial stability and revenue enhancement, infrastructure development and service delivery, economic revitalisation and investment attraction, a safe and clean city, social services and community well being and governance.

A chunk of the budget will go towards roads and transport (R579 million), about R515 million was allocated towards water and sanitation, R482 million towards electricity and 

R466 towards human settlements.

As a result, the budget proposes City’s tariffs increase, property rates by 4%, electricity by 12%, water by 13%, sanitation by 6%, refuse removal by 4,6% and a new cleaning levy of R185 per month.
