Mop up operations are well underway in the Nelson Mandela Bay and Garden Route District.

Babalwa Lobishe, the Executive Mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality visited flood-affected areas in Colchester, on Saturday, where she engaged residents on the challenges caused by persistent flooding and inadequate drainage infrastructure.

The Municipality is also conducting  emergency repair work at the Seaview Road, in the Greenbushes area.

There Municipal teams are working to repair damaged sections of the road and restore safe travel conditions.

The Gamtoos Water Board recorded rainfall at specific areas including Krakeel hoek (243mm), Krakeel (75mm), Tamie (99mm), Joubertina (73mm), Baviaanskloof (80mm),  Suurveld (108mm), Kouga (98mm), Patensie (96mm), Hankey-Kleinrivier area up to (152mm), Kabeljous (154mm), Loerie (125mm) and Jeffreys Bay (98mm).
