About 43 people were arrested for illegal mining, in Westonaria, this week.
Police said the men are also illegal immigrants.
Live ammunition was seized at the site, as well as 04 Stamping pots, 02 Gas bottles, 02 chisels, 50 Stone Crushes, 01 Green Jack hammer, 01 Wheelbarrow, 02 Gas bottles, 03 Soil dishes, about five 20litre buckets and one motor.
They were arrested during the police’s campaign-Operation Prosper, which is integrated with the army.
The suspects are expected to appear in court, on charges of illegal mining and the contravention of the Immigration Act.
