Four people died as a result of fires in the United States over the weekend.
Nathan Matthews (43) of Lincoln, Nebraska, died Friday from injuries sustained while responding to the Knowles Fire in western Colorado on June 27.
He was a dedicated member of the Rifle Helitack crew out of Colorado and was one of five firefighters involved in a burnover during initial attack operations.
Three firefighters – Emily Barker, Nick Hutcherson, and Sydney Watson, also died at the scene.
About 90 large fires were active across the United States, over the weekend.
According to the National InterAgency Fire Centre in Oregon, 25,310 firefighters and support personnel, were part of suppressing fires.
Over 140 helicopters, were used by 27 complex incident management teams.
At least 13 people died in the Los Gallardos fire in southern Spain including a 22-year-old, who was a volunteer.
Fires are still active west of Madrid.
In France, the worst affected area is Girond, where hoards of people were evacuated and over 240 homes gutted by fires.
