Some electricity poles are lying in wet areas, south of Mthatha, after a storm ravaged parts of King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality, in the Eastern Cape, on the 13th of February 2026.

Nyaniso Nelani, Mayor of the area, said there is a widespread outage, disrupting electricity supply to residents and businesses.

He said there is a shortage of poles in the area, to allow full scale restoration.

“Further to this, the ground is also still wet, should the Municipality find the poles.”

Additional teams are also required, given the vastness of the affected areas.
