The N12 Freeway in Bassonia was reopened to traffic in both directions, following mop up operations on Sunday evening.
One person died in the incident, when a gas tanker collided with a smaller vehicle and caught fire, on Sunday morning early.
The Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) said “the roadway has been declared safe for public use, and all previously active diversions at the R59 Reading Interchange and Comaro Road have been lifted.”
