The Nelson Mandela Metro will host the first G20 Employment Working Group (EWG meetings), from the 18th -21st of February 2025.
The theme of the EWG is “Living and working in an unequal world: Ensuring Decent Work and decent lives, which aligns with South Africa’s G20 Presidency – “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability.”
The G20 EWG’s mandate is to address labour, employment and social issues for strong, sustainable, balanced and job-rich growth for all. It was founded in 1999 in response to several world economic crises as a forum for international economic cooperation.
Knowledge partners are the International Labour Organization, Nedlac, International Social Security Association, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the World Bank, New Development Bank, African Regional Labour Administration Centre, Research and tertiary institutions.
The EWG is one of 16 working groups of the G20.
Another 130 meetings will be held during South Africa’s Presidency of the G20.
