The City of Cape Town has established 3 new Catchment Management Fora (CMF).
They are the Zeekoevlei CMF, Soet River CMF, and Diep River CMF.
The City’s Zahid Badroodien, said about the newly established fora “these fora mark a significant step forward in our strategic commitment to preserving and enhancing Cape Town’s water resources. I look forward to meeting the newly appointed chairpersons and office bearers in each forum, who will spearhead community initiatives and work closely with the City to tackle critical issues.”
In a statement, the Water and Sanitation Directorate, said the aim of the fora is to enhance the sustainability and resilience of water resources and promote integrated water resource management.
They are designed to improve environmental water quality and river management, as well as find solutions to urban pollution ending up in watercourses.
Existing fora are in Hout Bay, Sand River, Wildevoelvlei and Lourens River.
