Mondi and ZARELO introduced new paper made from the company’s recyclable functional barrier paper 95/5.

The recyclable paper-based packaging solution can be used as a fire starter in fireplaces and barbecues.

The special paper is produced in-house, made from FSCTM and PEFC certified paper1.

ZARELO’s fire starter range includes coiled wood fibres and newly introduced compact cubes, packed in three sizes: 32 pieces, 1 kg, and 2 kg.

Mondi said in a statement, the transition to recycle FunctionalBarrier Paper 95/5, allowed ZARELO to switch from manual to automated filling process, improving production efficiency and optimising resources.

Francesco Fardella, Business Solution Manager for Functional Paper & Films at Mondi, said “fire starters require packaging that keeps them dry and intact while ensuring ease of handling and storage. This solution combines strong barrier properties with excellent printability, offering both product protection and a premium retail presence—all while supporting circularity.”
