The Democratic Municipal and Allied Worker’s Union (Demausa) is filing papers at the High Court today, against the City of Johannesburg.
Meshack Ntshauba, Spokesperson of Demausa, said no negotiations are underway to address the fallout.

This is the third week since Pikitup workers launched protest action.

The workers claim they are paid about R120 a day for working in the City of Johannesburg.
Now they are demanding more and want to be hired on a permanent basis.

The City also claims about 300 casual workers were hired unlawfully.

The protest has left Johannesburg in a mess. Muhammad Vanker took a video of a truck offloading litter onto the streets of Johannesburg.
