The annual Yebo Gogga, Yebo amaBlomo festival kicks off from the15 May to 18 May 2024.

This unique, educational experience organized by Wits University, brings seasoned speakers on topics related to animals and plants.

Donald Mccallum, Honorary Research Fellow at Wits University, said since its launch, Yebo Gogga has proved to be a success, drawing more than 8 000 visitors and 26 schools.

“We are excited to welcome visitors to this year’s Yebo Gogga Yebo amaBlomo festival, where they can immerse themselves in the wonders of nature and gain a deeper appreciation for the cycles that sustain life” he said.

“Through interactive exhibits and engaging activities, we aim to inspire curiosity and spark a sense of wonder about the world around us” he added.

This year’s festival is themed “Cycles” exploring some of the cycles that drive life and the planet.

Ntando Hoza, intern at Wits, says visitors can expect a diverse range of engaging displays and interactive experiences including a live demonstration of bees in a glass hive, showcasing how insects can help solve weed problems, and the remarkable role of dung beetles in ecological balance.
