The South African Communist Party (SACP) has pledged support to organisers of an upcoming protest -National Union of Metal workers of South Africa (Numsa), to the US consulate in Pretoria.
NUMSA will be marching to the US Consulate in Johannesburg on the 24 January 2026, in protest of the US abduction of President Maduro of Venezuela, recently.This is just one of at least a hundred similar protests held globally against the US’ decision.
Other protests were in the US -Manhattan, Washington, Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami.
Mbulelo Mandlana, Head of Media, Communications and Information at the SACP, said “as the SACP, having embarked on a march for the same cause in Pretoria recently, we share the same sentiments with Numsa relating to the actions of the US government in Venezuela.”
Mandlana also said in a statement, this march represents a lever in the wheel of anti-imperialist struggles.
“We condemn the violent attack of Venezuela by the US regime just as we condemn the continued interference in Venezuelan national affairs.”
