Water supply remains closed in parts of Ivory Park, near Midrand.
Johannesburg Water (JW) confirmed water will only be restored after tests confirm compliance.
JW found water was contaminated in Sisonke Street, part of Ivory Park’s Extension 9.
JW said it has finished installing a new main pipeline and also connected it to all affected homes.
This is after it ascertained contamination came from a pipeline, close to a sewer discharge.
JW said it would only resume supply after test results prove compliance to drinking water standards.
Residents were strongly advised not to even attempt to take a sip of their tap water.
