Indonesia has had three huge busts against pangolin poaching, in March alone.

About 3 tonnes of pangolin scales were confiscated at Indonesia’s Tanjung Priok Port.

Scientists say this was one of the largest busts in years and where many critically endangered pangolins, were killed.

Another 1.5 tonnes, were uncovered in some container in a bust conducted by Customs officers, supported by the Natural Resources Conservation Agency.

The scales are believed to be of a Critically Endangered -Sunda Pangolin, which is under immense pressure from traffickers.

In another incident, authorities in West Kalimantan arrested one person, after they found him in possession of 1.38 kg of Sunda pangolin scales.

The suspect said he learnt about poaching from social media.
