The City of Cape Town said its Call Centre has received at least 4,621 calls per day, since the start of Winter.

Calls are about reporting flooding, sewer overflows and blockages.

Of all the calls, 32% relate to power outages.

Alderman Theresa Uys, the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Corporate Services, said around 95, 420 service requests were launched between 01 – 25 June 2025.

The top five requests related to power outages, blocked sewers, street lights out, potholes and blocked gulleys/channels.
