The Oya Energy Hybrid Facility, has begun erecting its first wind turbine, in the Karoo, between the Western and Northern Cape.

The project promises to deliver about 128 Megawatts (MW), made up of  86.4 MW of wind power, 155 MW of solar PV, 94 MW / 242 MWh battery energy storage system. 
  
The project is led by Goldwind, Sinohydro, and ENGIE Africa and relied on specialized cranes to lift the 110m tower, nacelle, and 77.5m blade diameter.
