Parts of Roodepoort, in Johannesburg, have no electricity.
City Power says this is because a critical 33kV cable was stolen.
The cable connects Sentraal, Florida, and Lea Glen Substations.
City Power’s Isaac Mangena, said on Thursday “our operators are on site and have identified the exact section of the cable that was cut. A service provider has been appointed to carry out the necessary repairs, with the process of sourcing the required materials already underway.”
Affected areas are Bergbron, Horison, Florida Glen, Fleurhof and surrounding areas.
The Roodepoort Service Delivery Centre is also affected by the outage, which may impact service delivery in the area temporarily.
The estimated time of restoration is still unknown.
