Work to install a cable that burnt on the 01st May, underneath the double decker freeway on the N1, is well underway.
City Power said its teams are clearing debris, ahead of Tuesday’s reinstallation.
Since the fire, City Power’s teams have supplied power using backfeeding channels and interconnectors.
High voltage cables for the Fordsburg-Braamfontein routes were delivered to the site.
City Power’s Isaac Mangena also said cable jointing at the Braamfontein side of the Bree-Newtown Wits circuit, was completed. But the planned transfer of the Wits electrical load could not be completed due to constraints with switchgear infrastructure.
Mangena said another fire elsewhere, at a load centre on TH Wolmarans and Hospital Road, on Friday, will have power restored on Tuesday evening, around 6pm.
