Phase 2 of the Lilian Ngoyi St (former Bree Street) Rehabilitation Project was completed and officially reopened on Monday.
The 1.8km corridor was restored and modernised after the 2023 gas explosion.
The Road is used by motorists, businesses and pedestrians.
Dada Morero, Executive Mayor of Johannesburg officiated the event, alongside Zweli Nyathi,Chief Executive Officer of the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) and Councillor Sihle Nguse.
The project entailed full road surface reconstruction and asphalt resurfacing, installation and upgrading of real-time gas monitoring and underground infrastructure, wider pavements, dedicated vending bays, modernized bus stops and upgraded street furniture.
