Police recovered a staggering 9,439 units of dried abalone at a facility, in Brackenfell, Cape Town.
They followed two suspects to the facility, where the discovery was made.
Police said the two men are a 49-year-old Chinese and a 36-year-old from Tanzania.
Both suspects were due to appear in the Kuilsrivier Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Lt. Gen. Sizakhele Dyantyi, a Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, applauded the police involved for their vigilance, outstanding commitment, and dedication that led to the arrests and confiscation of the abalone.
