A power outage at the Lethabo Raw Water Pumping Station on Sunday morning, hampered water supply from the Vereeniging Water Purification Plant.
Rand Water said yesterday, Eskom technicians identified damaged insulators as the cause for the outage.
Although power was restored, it will take several hours for the pumping of water to resume at Amanzimtoti, Eikenhof and Zwartkopjes.
This has disrupted water supply to Emfuleni, Metsimaholo, Midvaal, Ngwathe, Rustenburg, the Royal Bafokeng Administration, Rand West, Merafong, Mogale City and the Cities of Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni, industries and mines.
